Celebration of the Chinese New Year in 2019 consists of 3 phases:
Little Year (Jan 2th – Feb 4th): Preparations for the new year
Spring Festival (Feb 5th – Feb 15th): Main Chinese New Year celebration
Lantern Festival (Feb 16th – Feb 19th): Preparations begin the 16th, and the Lantern Festival is held on February 19th.
The Chinese community in Vancouver celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival at many places, one of them was on Feb 9 and 10 in downtown Vancouver next to the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Surprise, surprise … The only one non-Asian exposition was the exposition of the Slovak Folklore Society SLAVIK

My little Chinese friend enjoined the dance of Slovak sheep very much.
Rasťo Kráľ can play not only “fujara” but also another special Slovak instrument called “ozembuch”.
After the Slavik’s performance the Chinese visitors used the opportunity to take picture with the “sheep” and the “wolf”.
Thank you, fujara players, thank you Sláviček, thank you Slávik and thank you, Marika, for the beautiful Slovak afternoon for the Slovak presence among the Asian nations.

While people watched the Slavik’s performance, outside was a snow storm.
